Experiments targetted at making working at home more productive

In Helsinki, the sun isn't out too often in the winter, and it is always a delight when it does. On an average of 4-5 hours a day, this project uses a light sensor that detects the light that is shining on the disco ball and consequently starts the motor to spin.

An experiment within a larger topic, this intervention is another one of ambient information and motion. As a team with Will Brown and Reynan Shimada, we looked at how we can increase productivity in the home through a set of experiments that do not deal with apps but rather that have an ideological and more calm way of changing a setting. Calm technology, mature reinforcements, mindfulness, are all alternative ways of making people productive without resorting to mobile based applications that deal with to-do lists and bonus rewards.
