Client Recycle Beirut

The Circular Economy of Lebanon

I conducted and compiled a research for Recycle Beirut around the crisis in Lebanon. This includes the migrant crisis, the waste / pollution, the state of the abandoned incinerators and the different recycling businesses that exist. This research lead to initiating a step by step process of kickstarting the circular economy in Beirut. By putting a halt to the construction of incinerators (which are almost all abandoned) the EU funding should go directly into employing the refugees in the metal, plastic, paper industries. This would increase the livelihood of these workers and increase renewability and recycling. With proper funding this can ensure that the workers are being paid, that security and health measures are being implemented, that more waste is being recycled and more money is generated. The circular economy is mandatory at this time in Lebanon.
